There was a very interesting interview on television last night: Bill O'Reilly as a guest on David Letterman.
This was interesting to me for two reasons: one, because it was quite funny. Two, because it further proves the lack of intelligence and common sense in the liberal mind.

The interview began with a discussion on the recent Christmas controversy, something many liberals claim is fabricated and just "not a big deal". True, a store saying "happy holidays" rather than "Merry Christmas" really isn't a big deal. That said, when it gets to the point where there are court cases in Texas to decide whether red and green should be allowed, things have gone too far. O'Reilly sites several examples of opression of Christmas and the Christian faith across America, and the response from Letterman is "I don't believe you".

How typical of the liberal brain. No facts to back himself up, no logical thinking to be found. Letterman simply dismisses O'Reilly's arguments as stupid, without presenting any reasoning behind his thinking.

The interview continues to move on to the issue of US intelligence and Iraq. Of course, everyone now knows that intelligence about WMD's going into Iraq was flawed to say the least. Letterman is quick to point this out, and he is right. He's also quick to dismiss the fact that every other intelligence agency in the world was saying the same thing. He also fails to recognize that the Clinton administration publicly stated that they believed Saddam was a serious threat and was in pursuit of nuclear weapons if he didn't have them already. O

ne must wonder if Letterman is aware that of over twenty reasons cited to Congress to take action against Iraq, only four mention weapons of mass destruction at all.

It was fairly obvious that Letterman is not well researched on political issues at all, something I'd bet that he would freely admit to. Unfortunately, many people in this country form their political beliefs based on what entertainers such as Letterman say, rather than on actual fact.

Letterman also says in the interview that he doesn't believe that O'Reilly presents an objective view on his show...that it is not "Fair and Balanced" as the show claims. Okay, fair enough. The O'Reilly Factor is an opinion show, after all. However, when O'Reilly asks Letterman for an example, Letterman admits that he doesn't watch the show and that he's formed his opinion "based on things I've read". Americans should pay attention to statements like this, as it truly exposed the way that a liberal brain works. In the liberal mind, there is no need for actual fact. The "information" gained from left-wing blogs which agree with the liberal's opinions are good enough. Who needs to actually READ the Patriot Act when the ACLU says that it's bad, right? Who needs to actually READ the Geneva Conventions if Amnesty International claims that they have been violated? Why should anyone bother to find out anything for themselves, when we have Michael Moore to provide us with all the information we need to make informed political decisions?

I strongly believe that more and more Americans are beginning to research facts for themselves, which could prove to be a devastating thing for Democrats. While the left-wing blogs are popping up by the thousands, I feel that most people are intelligent enough to dismiss them for the crap that they are, and use the ever-increasing number of sources of real information to make their voting decisions. It will be quite interesting to see how many seats the Democrats lose in 2006 elections. My, how the Diaryland rants will be flowing then!
