Wow...so many things to write about. Divorce, the bank I work at finding excuses to not give me my yearly raise...and all kinds of political bullshit to rant about.

However, for this entry we will set all that aside and focus on a more important topic: The gentlemen I had the priviledge of serving in Iraq with.

Many of them are back over there right now, as I write this entry sitting in my safe, psycho-soon-to-be-ex-wife-free apartment. It is quite interesting to see a war from both sides.

Not all that long ago I was sitting there with those guys, in the trenches along the Iran border (yes, WWI style trenches), or in the gutters of Samarra waiting to be shot at. Now I see the other side. I sit here in the U.S., watching the news like a hawk and hoping I don't hear the names of anyone I know.

How many of you have experienced a feeling of relief when you hear on CNN that "Specialist so-and-so killed today", simply because it was a name that you don't recognize? Let me tell you, it is a shitty yet reassuring feeling at the same time, if that makes any sense.

Anyway, to my "boys" still serving...I worry about you more than you know, and wish more than anything for all of you to come home safely. Never doubt that you are doing the good work over there, despite what many here in their safe homes say about you. Those of us who know better appreciate everything you do. I know if I had to do it all again, I'd take a bullet for any one of you...even the names that I don't recognize.

While I can't remember them all anymore, due to a massive amount of alcohol, when I first joined the army I had the names memorized of every single soldier killed in Somalia. To all of you soldiers AND all of you civilians, keep in mind what is being fought for. This war did not start on 9/11, it started about a generation beforehand. Anyone who does some research on Middle-Eastern history will find that.

I wish all of you the best and a safe return home....and to those of you that I do know personally, fear not, the chocolate covered booze and porn dvd's are on the way like a muthafucka.

To those of you who don't know any better, send these poor fuckers some naked women!! Even if you just send it to a random APO, hook a brother up! And if your loved one overseas is female, send her a few issues of Playgirl and some tampons!!

As a matter of fact, even if your soldier is male send him some tampons. I can say from personal experience that nothing keeps the sweat out of your eyes like taping a tampon to the inside of your helmet. They also stop nosebleeds quite well.
