There seems to be a lot of discussion on diaryland and just amongst the American populace in general about recent events in Iraq, particularly the case involving the treatment of Iraqi prisoners.

This is to be expected, as it was quite a terrible thing for those soldiers to do, and extremely embarassing to our country. So, the amount of talk going on about it is very understandable.

What I don't understand is the shock factor.....

Do all you people really think that this is something new? Is it really THAT suprising?

Anyone who isn't a complete fuckin idiot knows that this type of behavior has been going on during times of war for thousands of years.

Open up a fucking history book, asswipes. Is anyone aware of the treatment of prisoners on both sides during WW1, WW2, or Vietnam?

Shall we go back farther?

The French and Indian War? The fuckin Revolution? The Romans? Naepoleon? The Crusades?

Yesh, this was a terrible tragedy, but why is everyone so shocked about it? Is everyone truly that naive that they don't know what happens during war? It's FUCKING WAR, IDIOTS!!!!!!!

Death, destruction, torture, fuckin dead goats....it happens.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not implying "shit happens so everyone should just get over it and move on"

The behavior of those American soldiers was competely unacceptable and they should and will be prosecuted.

I just don't understand why everyone is so shocked and amazed by it. Yeah, those soldiers we're Americans and Americans are supposed to be better and all that bullshit, but guess what? THEY'RE STILL HUMAN!!!!!!

And the effects of war are the same, regardless of whether you're an Iraqi or an American.

It brings out the worst in you, violence you didn't know you were capable of. Believe me, people, I fucking know. It is not fun to kill a man, but when thrown into a situation where you either have to kill them or be killed yourself, it becomes much easier.

I have done things that before Iraq I didn't know I was capable of, and I am just one of thousands for this war, and billions throughout history.

I truly hope that Americans learn the harsh realities of war, and accept reality for what it is rather than just sitting in front of their TV's bitching about it.

It disgusts me how people will sit around watching the news bitching about our military and talking about the way things should or shouldn't be, and how soldiers should or shouldn't behave.

Granted, those actions towards those prisoners were very wrong, anyone can tell that. But if you weren't there than SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!

As I've said in my last entry, you have not earned the right to an opinion so keep it to yourself, especially if it's an uneducated one.

I thank the God I don't believe in every day for people such as co5girl and blackpanty who still understand, and don't post random uneducated bullshit on their diaries.

To those of you who realize the reality of war and how terrible this tragedy was but still support your soldiers, thank you. To the rest of you, fuck off and die
